Devotional: The Gospel of Mark
Lent is coming! It is time for us again to join to study one of the Gospels. This year we are going to focus on the Gospel of Mark. Lent is a time of repentance, fasting, self-reflection, and preparation for the coming of Easter. The season of Lent lasts for forty days, not counting Sundays. We will begin our study on Ash Wednesday and conclude it on Holy Saturday.
Along with the video devotion, you will have some scripture to read, a few discussion questions for you to consider on your own, with a loved one, or even with your small group, and a prayer for the day. We pray that this Lenten Devotional will be a blessing to you as you prepare for Easter. Sign up today!

Lake Deaton is hosting a concert on Sunday, 2/12 @ 4:00 pm for Seeds of Hope. The Villages Swing Band, who plays wonderful music from the “swing era” will donate their talents for this fundraiser. Seeds of Hope hopes to raise money and/or collect food for the Wildwood Food Pantry and the Wildwood Soup Kitchen at this event. Seeds of Hope is a total volunteer organization and all donations go directly to these two entities. Both the Food Pantry and the Soup Kitchen serve the growing needs of people in the areas near the Villages. Most needed foods are non perishables like canned meats, vegetables and fruits. Protein items like peanut butter, cheese and crackers, healthy granola bars and fruit cups fortify the children in the weekend snack packs that go out every week. Concert goers are asked to please bring a monetary donation or food offering as admission. Please come and enjoy the music and support this worthwhile cause! Zoom Prayer Group Expanding
For a while we have been meeting for prayer via Zoom on Thursdays at 3 PM for confidential needs that are only shared within this group as well as praying for needs that people have given permission to publish. Starting February 9 from 3 to 4 PM, we will be inviting anyone who has a heart, for praying for people and ministry needs, to gather in person at Lake Deaton to join us in prayer.
One of the ways we can put Christ's Love in Action is through praying. To help us accomplish that more fully, we are expanding the Zoom Virtual experience to include face-to-face prayer meetings as another way to help people experience the presence of Christ in their lives.
Our prayer ministry works to minister in healing prayer through weekly prayer services, prayer after worship services, classes on praying for the sick, and one-on-one prayer sessions. You may contact Janice or Pastor Duane in the Care Ministries office at 352-571-4665 for more information or to sign up
